Quarter 3 Module: School Re-Segregation

The re-Segregation of American Schools

Students will first review the history of segregation and the landmark case that brought about its legal end in the United States. Students will then examine the demographic information of NYC schools, comparing high school demographics with those of the surrounding neighborhoods. Students will evaluate school enrollment and admissions policies and create a policy brief in which they make recommendations for whether or not schools should attempt to integrate and how they might do so.
